| The history of the Cathay Organization dates back to 18 July 1935 when the organization was incorporated in Singapore as Associated Theatres Limited. The first cinema, The Pavilion was shown by this organization in Kuala Lumpur in 1936. Later in 1939, Cathay Cinema was established where the premier movie shown was The Four Feathers.
